item

A good office design requires deliberate planning at every step ranging from floor planning to the position of power outlet.

Office Space Tips

Perfect floor plan: While designing the floor plan, you need to consider two main components.

Proximity: Employees who need frequent contact should be in close proximity. Face-to-face communication is convenient instead of e-mail or phone communication.
Accessibility: The paths to the areas like break room and coffee machines should be clear, direct and wide. So, it takes less time to walk these areas.
Organizing task Specific workstation: Work requirements are different for different employees. For example, computer programmer needs various electrical outlets in easily reachable locations, whereas administrative employee needs easily accessible file cabinets.

Lighting: Lighting requirements are different for different workers such as reading from a monitor needs dimmer lighting, whereas reading from a hardcopy needs bright lighting.
Workspace usage: Desk space should be organized functionally. For example, a computer programmer who performs paired programming needs large desk space to arrange two monitors side-to-side.
Adapting workstation to each worker: Workstation requirements are different for different employees even they do similar work. So, to fit employees’ physical needs, workstation equipment should be adjustable.

Chairs: Chairs must be adjustable ranging from heights to arm rests.
Work surface height: The desk should be adjustable. Use desk risers instead of replacing the desk.
Office accessories: To ensure workstation safety, you should have monitor risers, variable keyboard trays, footrests, etc.
